On this occasion, let’s share some good news from Textile Exchange just released Organic Cotton Market Report.
For the 5th consecutive year, global organic cotton production has kept increasing, with a 37% growth compared to last year.
Even though this still represents a tiny share of all cotton production – 1,4% – the trend is encouraging, with big changes in some regions and countries.
Turkey, for example, has become the 2nd producer of organic cotton before India, now accounting for 24% of the global organic production (versus 9,7% last year).
If many more region or countries-specific insights are available, the report also provides updates and analysis on burning issues (such as fraud prevention, traceability improvement…) the industry is currently facing.
