Textile Exchange has just released its so expected 2021 Organic cotton market report.
Key figures include :
Close to 250 000 tons of organic cotton fiber produced in 2019/20;
A 4% growth compared to 2018/19 harvest but still representing only 1% of the global cotton production;
A production shared out by 21 countries, unsurprisingly led by India (50%).
Above these production data, the report contains rich insights (and advice) to better understand a few burning issues such as the reasons of the sudden shortage of organic cotton, the status of in-conversion cotton, the regenerative boom, the impact of COVID on the market, and more.
