Earlier this year, biodiversity loss was identified as one of the top five threats our societies will face in the coming years (World Economic Forum’s 2020 Global Risks Report).
In response, Textile Exchange Corporate Fiber and Materials Benchmark (CFMB) Program recently launched the Biodiversity Benchmark.
Developed with a wide range of stakeholders, from biodiversity experts to NGO, this new tool is “designed to help the fashion and textile industry take urgent action on biodiversity”, starting with understanding how their current raw material sourcing strategies actually impact biodiversity.
Indeed, this first Beta version of the benchmark aims at gathering data among participants, so as to set up the scene and serves as a baseline of where we stand now.
Any company involved in the textile supply-chain, from suppliers to retailers, can get involved by answering, for free, the initial survey.
