The organic standard GOTS dedicated to the post-harvest processing textile industry is progressing.
In 2020, 10 388 facilities were GOTS certified, an increase of 34% compared to last year.
As a reminder, GOTS latest version has just come into force a few days ago, after public release in March 2020. Modifications included not only the reinforcement of existing requirements (extended list of prohibited substances, thresholds for more restrictive restricted substances) but also the addition of a dozen new sections (chemical risk management, social rights, GMO, animal welfare…).
