WWF – Cashmere sourcing strategy

Structuring strategic ambitions for cashmere supply-chains

In the context of a partnership with a major luxury player, the WWF asked Origem to assess the brands’s cashmere sourcing practices; cashmere being a strategic material to the brand potentially associated with significant impacts.

  • Overview of ongoing initiatives and assessment of existing standards promoting upstream responsible cashmere production (cattle rearing) in Mongolia and inner Mongolia (China):
    • Assessment of major available standards
    • Comparison of each standards’ features, requirements and verification practices
    • Experts’ interviews
  • Synthesis and recommendations, identifying opportunities for action and constraints.

This project allowed the WWF and its partner to:

  • Benefit from a deeper knowledge on the existing initiatives and their scope, level of requirements, strengths and weaknesses,
  • Receive appropriate advice to guide ambition and decision-making.
